Public transport in Karlsruhe

During normal business hours, most tram-lines run every ten minutes. Since suburban public transport is entirely run by the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (KVV), one may use the same transport ticket for all trams and buses. Please note that a changed timetable applies due to construction measures. For more information and directions visit the website of KVV.

If you arrive at Karlsruhe main station (Hauptbahnhof) by train, you will find the tram stops directly in front of the station. Take a tram line 2 (direction Wolfartsweier), S1/S11 (direction Hochstetten) or S4 (direction Heilbronn) to the stop „Kronenplatz“.

The math building (Kollegiengebäude Mathematik, KIT Campusplan 20.30) is located on the campus, a short walk (<5 min) away from the tram stop „Kronenplatz“. The address is

How to reach Karlsruhe …

… by train

You can find the train table information on the website of the Deutsche Bahn. Upon arrival at Karlsruhe main station (Hauptbahnhof) please take the main exit. Take the tram 2, S1/S11 or S4 up to the tram stop Kronenplatz (see Section „public transport in Karlsruhe“).

… by car

from the North
Take the Autobahn A5 (motorway) in the direction of Karlsruhe/Basel until you reach the Karlsruhe-Durlach exit. Then take the first exit in the direction of Karlsruhe and follow the B10 to the junction Kriegsstraße/Rüppurrer Straße. You will find parking facilities near Kronenplatz signposted by the parking guidance system.

from the North-West
Take the A61 to the A5. Then please follow the instructions under „coming from the north“.

from the East
Follow the A8 in the direction of Karlsruhe until you reach the „Karlsruhe Dreieck“ exit. Then take the A5 in the direction of Frankfurt and exit in „Karlsruhe-Durlach“; please follow the instructions under „coming from the north“.

… by airplane

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) is directly connected to Karlsruhe by an hourly high-speed train (ICE). For further information please visit the website of the Deutsche Bahn (departure station: „Frankfurt Fernflughafen“). After arriving in Karlsruhe, please follow the instructions under „by train“.

Parking

Follow the parking guidance system in the centre of Karlsruhe. There are several parking garages near Kronenplatz.
